I secured my first-choice GP training region after using Pass the MSRA as my main revision resource. Reviewing the explanations properly, rather than just moving on after each question, helped me recognise the mistakes I kept making.

I used to approach SJT ranking questions largely by instinct, especially when several options sounded reasonable. The worked explanations helped me see the difference between being supportive and actually dealing with the immediate safety issue.

The mocks made me realise I was spending far too long debating difficult questions and then rushing the last part of the paper. Once I changed how I managed my time, the full exam felt much less frantic.

As an IMG, I was comfortable with most of the clinical content but found the professional judgement section harder to interpret. The SJT textbook was particularly helpful for understanding how confidentiality, escalation and raising concerns are approached in the NHS.

I was revising around nights and on-calls, so I rarely had the energy for long sessions. I listened to the podcasts on my commute, did quick quizzes during breaks and saved the full mocks for my days off. It worked well around an unpredictable rota.

My scores had plateaued because I was doing mixed questions without properly revisiting the topics I struggled with. Working through paediatrics and women’s health separately helped me close some obvious gaps.

I started revising later than I had intended and knew I could not cover everything in the same depth. The concise notes helped me prioritise the key guidelines, and the questions quickly showed me where I still needed more work.

I had made a lot of my own notes, but reading them repeatedly was not helping much. The flashcards forced me to recall the investigation or next management step before seeing the answer, which showed me what I actually knew.

The explanations were detailed enough to show where my reasoning had gone wrong, but short enough that I did not lose momentum. I could take away one clear learning point and carry on with the session.

I liked being able to read a short topic summary, test myself with flashcards and then go straight into questions on the same area. I spent less time deciding what to revise and more time actually doing it.

I kept changing my SJT rankings because I could justify almost every option to myself. The explanations helped me notice when a response was too passive, unnecessarily confrontational or failed to deal with the main concern.

I thought my timing was fine until I attempted a full mock under proper conditions. I was losing too much time early in the paper, so the practice helped me develop a pace that I could actually maintain.

The clinical side of the MSRA felt familiar, but I initially struggled with what the SJT expected from me. The textbook helped me understand the priorities behind the answers rather than trying to memorise a correct order.

Most of my revision happened in twenty-minute bursts before or after work. The rapid quizzes were useful when I only had a little time, while the flashcards were easy to revisit when I was too tired to start a new topic.

I used Pass the MSRA for the final six weeks and it stopped my revision from feeling so random. The specialty breakdown showed that a few weak areas were dragging down otherwise reasonable scores, so I focused on those rather than starting everything again.
