Pass the MSRA

Clinical Problem Solving · Professional Dilemmas

Both MSRA papers. One question bank.

Most banks treat the SJT as an afterthought and mark it right or wrong. This one scores every scenario the way the real paper does, with credit for every near miss — alongside a clinical bank written and explained by an NHS London GP who has sat and passed the exam.

25 free questions in each bank. No card required, nothing to cancel.

Clinical Problem Solving

Know exactly what you have covered

Revision goes wrong when you cannot tell progress from repetition. Everything here counts distinct questions, so the number you see is the number you have actually done — and whatever you left half-finished is waiting where you left it.

Professional Dilemmas

SJT marked properly, not pass/fail

Getting an action one place out is not the same as getting it wrong, and the real paper knows that. So does this. You will see exactly which marks you earned and where they went, for both question types.

Raw marks that reward near misses

See exactly how SJT scoring works

Both schemes are generated from the same rule the live runner uses.

Ranking scores every action you place, not only the ones you put exactly right. Selection scores each correct action you pick. Both are raw practice marks.

Ranking

Read down for the ideal position, across for yours. The highlighted diagonal is an exact match.

Ideal ↓ / Yours →12345143210234321323432412343501234
  • 4 — exact
  • 3 — one away
  • 2 — two away
  • 1 — three away
  • 0 — four away

Place an action 2nd when its ideal position is 1st and you still score 3 of a possible 4. Five actions, so 20 marks maximum and 8 the practical floor.

Selection

Choose three actions. Each correct action earns 4 marks.

3 correct actionsFull marks12

2 correct actionsPartial credit8

Selecting more than three voids the question and scores 0, however many of them were correct.

These are raw practice marks. They cannot be converted into a predicted MSRA score.

Clinical Problem Solving

A 58-year-old man presents to his GP with a six-month history of central chest tightness. It comes on when he walks up the hill to his house or carries shopping, and settles within a few minutes of stopping. He has never had symptoms at rest. He has type 2 diabetes and hypertension, smokes 15 cigarettes a day, and his father had a myocardial infarction aged 61. Examination is unremarkable. Blood pressure is 148/86 mmHg. A resting ECG shows sinus rhythm with no ischaemic changes.

MSRA question bank: frequently asked questions

What is the MSRA?

The Multi-Specialty Recruitment Assessment is used in UK postgraduate specialty recruitment. It has two papers: Clinical Problem Solving, which tests applied clinical knowledge, and Professional Dilemmas, which tests professional judgement.

Confirm the current format and dates through official recruitment guidance.

How many questions are there?

4,346 published clinical questions and 952 Professional Dilemmas scenarios — 473 Ranking and 479 Selection.

The clinical bank grows as questions clear review. The figures on this page come from the live published count, not a marketing number.

Does it cover both papers?

Yes. Each paper has its own dashboard, session builder and progress figures, so neither set of numbers affects the other. Professional Dilemmas covers both Ranking and Selection.

How is the SJT scored?

Ranking awards 4 marks for an exact placement, then 3, 2, 1 or 0 as your answer moves further from the ideal position. Selection awards 4 marks per correct action up to 12, and selecting more than three actions voids the question.

Both schemes are set out in full further up this page. These are raw practice marks and cannot predict a cohort-normalised MSRA score.

Are there full mock papers?

Membership includes ten 50-scenario Professional Dilemmas papers. Mock papers are not part of the free tier. Clinical mock papers are in development.

Can I try it free?

Yes — 25 clinical questions and 25 Professional Dilemmas scenarios, with full explanations and every revision filter. No card required. Anything you attempt stays available to practise again.

Who writes the questions?

A practising NHS GP who holds MRCGP, CCT and an MSc in Medical Education, and who has sat and passed the MSRA. Every question is clinically reviewed before it is published.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. Dashboards, session building, touch ranking, review screens and the theme and reading-size controls are all built for mobile as well as desktop.

How does it compare with other MSRA question banks?

Both papers sit behind one login, the SJT is marked with partial credit rather than right or wrong, and revision pools are built from what you have actually answered.

The right platform depends on how you revise. Our comparison pages set out the differences directly.

When should I start revising?

Early enough to find your weak areas and go back to them, rather than only to finish a question count. Start with a short diagnostic set, practise regularly, and add full papers closer to the assessment.
